Poet Ali is a poet, compelling performer, lyricist, performance artist and inspirational speaker. His presentations, talks and performances focus on human connection –how we connect with ourselves and with our environments. As a soulosopher (soul + philosopher) and entertainer, he inspires each of us to use our gifts to catalyze self-discovery and well-being.
An Iranian-American artist who grew up in California, Ali gives talks and performance to inspire young people as well as adults. His TED Talk, the Language of Being Human, has been viewed more than 1 million times on YouTube and is frequently used as a middle school educational resource.
Language and Sensitivity
In this conversation we explore the ways in which Ali creates as a multi-lingual artist and uses the power of sound to guide his creative choices.
We also talk about his book, P.O.E.M.S. (Piece of Every Mortal Soul), the first multi-media book of poetry which features illustrations and poems that connect via QR cord to his original accompanying songs. Ali harnesses the expressive power of hip hop to give his music a powerful edge in reflecting back to listeners the state of the world through his art.
